Furnace Repair

If your furnace isn’t heating, is blowing cold air, is making unusual noises, or won’t turn on at all, call us. We send a licensed technician to your home, diagnose the problem at no charge, and give you a written repair estimate before any work begins. Most repairs in San Jose are completed the same day.

Before you call, two things are worth knowing: first, we offer free diagnostics – the technician’s visit and diagnosis cost you nothing. You only pay if you choose to proceed with the repair. Second, not every furnace problem requires a repair call. If your furnace isn’t responding at all, check the thermostat settings, confirm the circuit breaker hasn’t tripped, and make sure the gas supply valve is open. If those check out and the system still won’t run, it’s time to call.

What Does Furnace Repair Cost in San Jose?

Ignitor replacement

$195+

Most common single repair. Standard part, typically in stock. Usually completed in one visit.

Flame sensor cleaning or replacement

$195+

Cleaning is a minor service. Sensor replacement is inexpensive. Often the cause of a furnace that starts and immediately shuts off.

Thermostat replacement

$150+

It depends on the thermostat model. Smart thermostats (Nest and Ecobee) cost more than standard programmable units.

Limit switch replacement

$195+

Controls when the furnace shuts off on overheating. Inexpensive part; diagnostic to confirm it’s the actual cause adds time.

Pressure switch replacement

$195+

Controls combustion airflow. Multiple switches are in some systems diagnostics identify which one.

Gas valve replacement

$400+

Significant parts cost. Requires gas line work performed only by licensed technicians.

Blower motor replacement

$400+

Variable-speed motors cost more than single-speed. Labor-intensive removal and reinstallation.

Inducer motor replacement

$500+

Draft inducer pulls combustion gases through the heat exchanger. Critical component; failure prevents the furnace from firing at all.

Control board replacement

$400+

The furnace’s central processor. First, a diagnostic. Replacing the board is expensive and should only be done if it is confirmed as a fault.

Heat exchanger replacement

$1,000+

Only attempted on systems under 10 years old in otherwise good condition. On older systems, full replacement is almost always the better financial decision.

What You Get

Every furnace repair we complete includes the following – not as add-ons, but as standard scope:

Full System Diagnostic

We inspect the entire system to find the root cause, not just the failed component. Diagnostic is free – no trip fee, no service charge.

Written Estimate Before Any Work Begins

Firm price with parts and labor spelled out. You decide whether to proceed – no pressure either way.

Electrical Check Included

If the repair reveals an electrical issue, our licensed electricians handle it under the same service call – no second contractor needed.

Honest Repair vs. Replace Recommendation

If replacement makes more financial sense than repair, we tell you directly and provide a written installation quote at the same visit so you can compare both options.

Full System Verification After Repair

We run a complete heating cycle before we leave. We don’t close out the job until the system is confirmed working correctly.

Up to 12-Year Warranty on Parts & Labor

In writing. If something fails within the warranty period, we fix it – no diagnostic fees, no labor charges.

What a Heat Pump Actually Costs After Incentives

The gross cost of a heat pump installation is only part
of the picture. Bay Area homeowners have access to three stacking incentive programs that significantly reduce
out-of-pocket cost.

We identify which programs apply to your project, ensure
the installation meets all rebate program requirements,
and handle the documentation. Most contractors don’t
touch the paperwork – we do.

SVCE

$2,500

CA Energy-Smart Homes

$5,750

Net savings

$8,250

Rebate availability changes quickly and is often first-come, first-served or waitlisted. We calculate your exact eligibility and current stacking options as part of the free estimate – no guesswork, no surprises.

This Service May Cost
Less Than You Think

Bay Area utility programs and state energy incentives may offset a significant portion of your cost. We check what applies to your home and handle all the paperwork – as part of your free estimate, at no charge.

What Happens When You Call Us

Most people have never had to call an HVAC company before a system breaks down. Here’s exactly what to expect from the first call to a working furnace.

Step 1

You Call, We Respond

Call (669) 629-4440. For emergency situations – no heat with temperatures below 40°F, gas smell, or carbon monoxide alarm – tell us when you call. Emergency calls are prioritized.

For standard repair appointments, we schedule a visit at a time that works for you, typically same-day or next-day depending on your schedule and our current availability. We confirm the appointment time and send a notification when the technician is on the way.

Step 2

Free Diagnostic

A licensed technician arrives at your home. The diagnostic is free – no trip fee, no service charge just to show up.

The technician inspects your furnace completely: thermostat signal, electrical connections, ignition system, heat exchanger condition, gas pressure, combustion analysis, airflow, and filter condition. We look for the root cause – not just the failed component – because the same component failing repeatedly usually means something else is causing the failure.

At the end of the diagnostic, you receive a verbal explanation of what’s wrong and why, followed by a written repair estimate.

Step 3

Written Estimate, Then Your Decision

You receive a written estimate before any work begins. The estimate specifies the repair, the parts required, the labor, and the total cost. It also includes our recommendation: repair or replace and why.

If we recommend repair, the estimate is a firm price – not a starting point. If we recommend replacement based on the system’s age, condition, or repair cost relative to the system’s remaining value, we provide a written installation quote at the same visit so you can compare both options.

You decide. No pressure either way.

Step 4

Repair and System Verification

Most common repairs are completed the same day. Parts for standard components – ignitors, flame sensors, limit switches, and pressure switches – are typically stocked in the service vehicle. Less common parts may require ordering; we give you a specific timeline.

After the repair, we test the system through a complete heating cycle: startup sequence, ignition, burner operation, heat exchanger condition check, airflow verification, and thermostat response. We don’t leave until the system is confirmed working correctly.

For gas system repairs, we verify gas pressure and test all gas connections before closing out the job.

Why San Jose Homeowners Call Ozone Service for Furnace Repair

Free Diagnostics - No Charge Just to Show Up

Most furnace repair companies charge a diagnostic or service call fee - typically $69–$150 - just for the technician to arrive and assess the system. That fee is charged whether or not you proceed with the repair. We don't. The diagnostic is free. You pay for the repair, not for our time to identify the problem. This is the single most common reason new customers call us: they called another company, got charged for a diagnostic, and then decided to get a second opinion.

HVAC and Electrical Under One Roof

A significant number of furnace problems are electrical: failed ignitor circuits, faulty control board wiring, thermostat wiring errors, and circuit breakers that keep tripping under furnace load. When the diagnosis reveals an electrical issue beyond a standard furnace component, most HVAC-only companies stop and refer you to an electrician. We carry both HVAC and electrical licenses. If the repair requires electrical work - a new circuit, a panel-side issue, or wiring that needs correction - the same team handles it under the same service call. No scheduling a second contractor, no question about which trade is responsible for what.

All Makes and Models - No Brand Exclusions

We service every major furnace brand: Goodman, Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Daikin, Rheem, Amana, Bryant, York, Payne, and others. We don't decline repairs on older systems or less common brands because parts are inconvenient to source. If the part exists, we find it. For systems where parts are genuinely no longer available, we tell you that directly and explain what your options are.

24/7 Availability for Emergencies

No heat on a cold night is an emergency, not an inconvenience to schedule around. We're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency calls. When you call after hours, you reach a person - not a recording that directs you to schedule online.

Honest Repair vs. Replace Recommendations

We make money on repairs and on installations. That means we don't have a financial incentive to push one over the other. If a repair is the right answer, we recommend it. If the system's age or condition makes replacement the better financial decision, we say so and provide both options in writing so you can see exactly what you're comparing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you come today?

In most cases, yes. We offer same-day service for furnace repairs in San Jose and across Santa Clara County. For emergency situations – no heat during cold nights, gas smell, or carbon monoxide alarm – call us at (669) 629-4440. We’re available 24/7 and prioritize safety emergencies.

For non-emergency repairs, we typically schedule same-day or next-day appointments depending on your availability and our current workload.

Nothing. The diagnostic is free. A licensed technician visits your home, inspects the furnace completely, and gives you a written repair estimate at no charge, with no obligation to proceed.

You only pay if you choose to have the repair done. The diagnostic fee is not applied to the repair cost, and there’s no trip fee.

Minor repairs – ignitor replacement, flame sensor, thermostat – typically range from $100–$400. Mid-range repairs – blower motor, gas valve, and pressure switch – run $400–$900. Major repairs – inducer motor, control board, heat exchanger – cost $900–$2,500+.

You receive a specific written price before any work begins. The estimate is a firm price, not a range.

Most common repairs are completed the same day, often in 1-3 hours. Repairs requiring parts that aren’t in stock on the service vehicle may require a second visit once the part arrives – we give you a specific timeline when we place the order.

Leave the house immediately. Do not turn lights on or off, and do not use any switches or appliances – any spark can ignite accumulated gas. Leave the door open on your way out. Call PG&E’s gas emergency line (1-800-743-5000) and your local fire department from outside or from a neighbor’s phone.

Do not re-enter the house until PG&E has cleared it. Once the immediate emergency is resolved, call us to inspect the furnace before it’s restarted.

It can be either. A furnace repeatedly tripping its breaker is usually caused by a failing blower motor drawing excess current, a short circuit in the furnace’s electrical components, or a circuit breaker that has weakened and trips under normal load.

Because we hold both HVAC and electrical licenses, we can diagnose the root cause regardless of which trade it falls under – furnace component or panel-side electrical issue – without scheduling two separate contractors.

At 20 years, a $600 repair is almost certainly throwing good money at a system near the end of its life. The industry benchmark: if repair cost × system age in years exceeds $5,000, replacement is the better financial decision. $600 × 20 = $12,000 – well above that threshold.

Additionally, furnaces that have been installed through 2028 are the last gas furnaces that will be legally installed in the Bay Area – from January 2029, new installations must be electric. A 20-year-old furnace being replaced now gives you the option to make that transition on your timeline, with access to current rebates.

We give you both options in writing at the diagnostic visit – repair cost vs. replacement quote – so you can make an informed decision.
