Smart Home Electrical in San Jose, CA
Smart panels, lighting, switches, and whole-home automation wiring for Bay Area homes, installed and integrated by licensed electricians.
Serving Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties
A Smart Home Is Only as Reliable as the Wiring Behind It
Smart switches, app-controlled lighting, and energy monitoring are only as good as the electrical work underneath them. A smart device wired into a circuit with no neutral, an overloaded box, or an aging panel will drop offline, behave unpredictably, or simply never work the way the packaging promised. The difference between a smart home that feels seamless and one that constantly needs rebooting is almost always the wiring, not the device.
Ozone Service designs and installs smart home electrical across San Jose and the greater Bay Area: smart panels and energy monitoring, smart lighting and dimming, smart switches and outlets, and the whole-home wiring that ties it all together. Because we hold both electrical and HVAC licenses, we can also integrate smart controls with the systems that use the most energy in your home, all under one contract and one warranty. Licensed electricians, no subcontractors, and every connection made to the California Electrical Code.
What's Included in Every Smart Home Electrical Project
Every project we complete includes the following as standard scope, not as billable add-ons:
Load and Circuit Assessment
Before we recommend anything, we assess your existing panel and circuits and whether the boxes you want smart devices in have the wiring those devices need, including a neutral where required. Smart devices fail most often because they were installed on wiring that could not support them. We check first.
Device and System Selection
We recommend smart panels, switches, dimmers, and controls that are proven, code-compliant, and compatible with each other and with the platform you use, whether that is a specific app ecosystem or voice control. We fit the system to your home, not to whatever has the highest margin.
Permits Where Required
Smart device swaps often do not require a permit, but new circuits, panel work, and wiring changes do. Where the California Electrical Code requires a permit and inspection, we pull it through the City of San Jose or the relevant jurisdiction before work begins. We do not skip that step to move faster.
Full Installation by Licensed Electricians
All work is performed by Ozone’s in-house licensed electricians, no subcontractors. The crew that shows up for the estimate is the crew that does the work, and every connection is made to code and documented for inspection where one applies.
Integration and Testing
We do not just mount devices. We connect them to your network and platform, confirm each one responds correctly, group them the way you actually use your home, and test scenes and automations before we leave. You get a system that works, not a box of parts on the wall.
1-Year Labor Warranty
Parts and labor, in writing. If something fails within the warranty period, the wiring, a smart panel, or an installed control, we fix it at no charge. No diagnostic fee, no labor bill.
What Smart Home Electrical Covers
Smart Panel & Energy Monitoring
$7500+
Best for: homeowners who want circuit-level visibility, remote control, and readiness for EV, solar, or battery.
A smart electrical panel replaces or supplements your main panel with app control and real-time, circuit-level energy monitoring. See what is using power, control circuits remotely, and prioritize loads during an outage or on a time-of-use rate.
Smart Lighting & Dimming
Most Flexible
$3900+
Best for: whole-room or whole-home lighting control, scenes, and schedules.
App and voice-controlled lighting with proper dimming, wired to work reliably rather than the flicker-and-drop you get from a bad retrofit. Scenes for morning, evening, away, and everything in between.
Smart Switches & Outlets
$12 500+
Best for: adding control to existing fixtures and appliances without rewiring the house.
Smart switches, dimmers, and outlets installed correctly, including running a neutral where a circuit does not have one, so the devices actually work instead of dropping offline.
Whole-Home Wiring & Automation
$12 500+
Best for: new builds, remodels, and homeowners who want a single integrated system.
The wiring backbone for a fully integrated smart home: dedicated circuits, low-voltage runs, and the control infrastructure that ties lighting, climate, and energy together into one system you actually control.
What a Heat Pump Actually Costs After Incentives
The gross cost of a heat pump installation is only part of the picture. Bay Area homeowners have access to three stacking incentive programs that significantly reduce out-of-pocket cost.
We identify which programs apply to your project, ensure the installation meets all rebate program requirements, and handle the documentation. Most contractors don’t touch the paperwork – we do.

From First Call to Final Inspection
Step 1
Free Estimate and Assessment
We visit your home, review what you want to control, and assess your panel, circuits, and the boxes your smart devices will live in. You leave with a written scope and price. No charge, no obligation.
Step 2
System Design and Selection
We design the setup around how you actually use your home and the platform you already use and recommend specific, compatible, code-compliant devices. No guesswork, no incompatible mix of ecosystems.
Step 3
Permits Where Required
For new circuits, panel work, or wiring changes, we pull all required permits through the relevant jurisdiction before work begins. Simple device swaps that do not require a permit skip this step. We tell you which applies during the estimate.
Step 4
Installation and Integration
Most smart home electrical projects are completed in a single visit. Larger projects with panel work, new circuits, or whole-home wiring may take longer, and we give you a specific timeline up front. Our licensed electricians install the wiring and devices, then connect and configure the system.
Step 5
Testing, Walkthrough, and Sign-Off
We test every device, scene, and automation, walk you through controlling your home from your phone or by voice, and where a permit applied, schedule and pass city inspection before the job is closed out. Our inspection pass rate is 100%.
Why Bay Area Homeowners Choose Us for Smart Home Electrical
Electrical and HVAC Under One Roof
The smartest homes tie lighting, energy, and climate into one system. Most electricians stop at the switch and cannot touch the HVAC side; most smart-home installers are not licensed to do the electrical work at all. We carry both electrical and HVAC licenses, so one team wires the home, installs the controls, and integrates them with the systems that use the most energy.
Wired to Work, Not Just Mounted
A smart device is only as reliable as the circuit behind it. We check for the wiring each device actually needs, including a neutral where required, before we install so your system responds every time instead of dropping offline. We test every device and automation before we leave.
No Subcontractors
The crew that shows up is our crew, licensed electricians who are employees, not labor assembled from a staffing platform. That is what makes accountability, consistency, and warranty enforcement real rather than a line on a page.

What Our Customers Say
EXCELLENT Based on 85 reviews Posted on Google Md. Abul Bashar ShantoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Got a full heat pump system installed last month and honestly couldn't be happier with how the whole process went. From the first visit to final inspection, the team was organized and clearly knew what they were doing. What I didn't expect was how much help they gave me with the rebate programs - I had no idea how much money was available until Konstantin walked me through everything. They handled all the paperwork on their end, and my out-of-pocket ended up being significantly less than the initial quote. The system has been running quietly and efficiently since day one. Highly recommend to anyone in San Jose thinking about making the switch.Posted on Google faiqah firzanahTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. AC stopped working on a Friday afternoon. Called Ozone, they came out the same day, found the issue fast, and had everything running before dinner. No drama, fair price. Thanks guys.Posted on Google Amit MTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very efficient, on-time and fair priced. Thank you.Posted on Google A LTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a great meeting with Konstantin who explained "AC + furnace" vs heat pump, options, decision points. He presented impartially many technical and practical details and considerations that I find critical in making the right choices. Update: The heat pump installation was completed on time with no hiccups. Aleksander, the lead installer, was great in both the technical side but also explaining to me some very important details of the job and the future use. Definitely recommend them!Posted on Google Mark BernalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very helpful in diagnostics check. Technician was careful and throughoutPosted on Google Nanping JiangTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We needed a completely new HVAC system installed, and we had a great experience working with this team. I’ll admit I’m pretty picky and detail-oriented when it comes to work being done on our house, especially during a major renovation, so I don’t give praise lightly. That’s part of why I wanted to write this review. Konstantine took the time to explain the product options and installation process very clearly, which made us feel confident from the beginning. He was always responsive and easy to reach — whenever we had questions or concerns, he picked up the phone, understood our situation, and worked hard with us to solve problems in a thoughtful and kind way. That level of care meant a lot to us. Since we’re doing a full house renovation, we later needed to relocate some HVAC vents and return locations that had already been installed. Even though this meant coming back to our house multiple times, they were incredibly kind and accommodating about making those changes for us. Special thanks to Alex for going above and beyond — we really appreciated his patience and help, especially since they had to come back more than three times for us. The whole team was professional, responsive, and genuinely cared about doing the job right. Even as someone who is pretty particular, I was very pleased with their work and highly recommend them to anyone looking for HVAC service.Posted on Google Alex PérezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Truly outstanding service and HVAC system. Konstantin and his group are extremely competent professionals who are very fairly priced and honest in their dealings. We were extremely impressed by how knowledgeable, polite, and hardworking the Ozone folks are. It’s an amazing business and I will use them for all HVAC needs. I recommend them enthusiastically.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Frequently Asked Questions
Do smart switches and lights need special wiring?
Often, yes, they do. Many smart switches need a neutral wire in the box, and older Bay Area homes frequently do not have one at the switch. Installing a smart switch on a circuit without a neutral is the single most common reason they fail or drop offline. We check for the right wiring before we install and run a neutral where one is needed.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel for a smart home?
Usually not. Most smart lighting, switches, and controls run on your existing circuits and add very little load. A panel upgrade only comes into play if you are also adding large loads like an EV charger or heat pump or if you specifically want a smart panel. We assess your panel during the estimate and tell you honestly whether anything is needed and help you avoid an unnecessary cost.
What is a smart panel, and is it worth it?
A smart electrical panel adds app control and real-time, circuit-level energy monitoring to your home. You can see exactly what is using power, control circuits remotely, and prioritize loads during an outage or on a time-of-use rate. It is most worth it for homeowners who have or plan to add EV charging, solar, or battery storage, where seeing and managing loads makes a real difference.
Will my smart devices all work together?
They will if they are chosen and wired correctly. The most common frustration with smart homes is a mix of devices from ecosystems that do not talk to each other. We design around the platform you already use, recommend compatible devices, and test the whole system together before we leave, so it works as one system rather than a pile of separate apps.
Can you integrate my thermostat and HVAC into the smart system?
Yes, we can, and this is where holding both licenses matters. We can tie smart thermostats and HVAC controls into your lighting and energy setup so climate, lighting, and energy monitoring work together. Most smart-home installers cannot touch the HVAC side, and most electricians will not.
Do I need a permit to install smart home electrical?
It depends on the work. Swapping a switch or fixture for a smart one usually does not require a permit. New circuits, panel work, and wiring changes do. Where a permit is required, we pull it before work begins and pass city inspection. We tell you what applies during the estimate, before any commitment.
What brands do you install?
We work with Lutron, Leviton, Legrand, and SPAN for smart controls, lighting, and panels, chosen for reliability, compatibility, and code compliance in California. For panel work we also install Square D, Siemens, and Eaton.
What warranty do you provide?
One year labor warranty. Parts warranty is differenet from manufacturer to manufacturer and usually up to 10 years. If something fails within the warranty period, we diagnose and fix it at no charge, with no trip fee and no diagnostic fee.
